Why I like this recipe

The teriyaki sauce makes this meal the ideal balance of sweet and salty. I adore it since it’s cheap, easy to use, and full of flavor. If you have a hungry family to feed, pre-made sauces are a terrific way to save time!

First, the ground turkey is cooked with onion and garlic in a frying pan. Next, add broccoli, shredded carrots, and peas and simmer them until they are soft. A store-bought teriyaki sauce is poured over everything and served over rice. This makes a full meal in one bowl that everyone will appreciate!

Ground turkey is a healthier, leaner alternative to ground beef. It works well in stir-fries, just like my popular ground turkey sweet potato skillet!

Instructions

Step 1: Make the rice

Using a rice cooker or a saucepan on the stove, follow the package directions to cook 1½ cups of rice.

Step 2: Get the vegetables ready

Cut 1 cup of carrots into small pieces, 1 ½ cups of onion, 3 cloves of garlic, and 2 cups of broccoli into small pieces.

Step 3: Cook the onion and garlic.

Put 1 Tbsp of olive oil in a frying pan and heat it over medium heat. Add 1½ cups of chopped onion and 3 minced garlic cloves. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes, or until the onion is see-through.

STEP 4: Put in the ground turkey

Now add one pound of ground turkey. Use the tip of a wooden spatula to break it apart. Cook it until it is no longer pink.

Step 5: Put in the vegetables

Then add 2 cups of chopped broccoli, 1 cup of shredded carrots, and 1 cup of frozen peas. Mix everything together. Put a lid on the pan and cook the broccoli until it is a little tender when you probe it with a fork. This will take roughly three to four minutes.

Making Teriyaki Sauce at Home

You can make a basic sauce at home with:

  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/4 cup of soy sauce (or coconut aminos)
  • 2 teaspoons of brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon of garlic powder
  • Two tablespoons of cornstarch
  • ¼ cup of water that is cold
  1. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, 1 cup of water, brown sugar, ginger, and garlic powder.
  2. Put in a small pot and heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar melts (so it doesn’t burn).
  3. Put ¼ cup of cold water and cornstarch in a bowl and stir them together.
  4. Put it in the skillet and stir it constantly until the sauce gets thicker.
  5. Take it off the fire and add it to the stir fry with ground turkey teriyaki.
