Nutella crescent rolls
This easy recipe for Nutella crescent rolls has buttery crescent rolls around a luscious chocolate hazelnut center.

Crescent rolls with Nutella and chocolate
I found your new favorite breakfast for Sunday.
A thick layer of Nutella is smeared on a flaky crescent roll crust, and then the whole thing is rolled up into a delicious chocolate pastry that tastes like it came from a bakery.
Everyone will be impressed if you serve them hot from the oven to guests staying overnight or as part of a gourmet weekend breakfast.
Crescents stuffed with homemade Nutella are the best comfort meal for breakfast.
Things you need

- 1 can of chilled crescent rolls (8 oz)
- 1/3 cup of Nutella or homemade Nutella
- optional chopped hazelnuts
- optional powdered sugar
- optional melted chocolate chips for decoration
Nutella crescent roll ingredients
There are only two things you need for the recipe.
You can use simple chocolate spread or chocolate almond butter instead of Nutella to make a dessert that tastes like a chocolate croissant from a bakery.
Most big supermarket stores, like Target, Wegmans, and Whole Foods, have unbaked crescent rolls in the refrigerated department.
I like to use Annie’s, Trader Joe’s Organic, or Immaculate Baking because they don’t have hydrogenated oils, artificial flavors, or preservatives. A lot of businesses, including Pillsbury, are vegan by accident.
If you feel ambitious, create your own dough instead of buying refrigerated crescent rolls. For gluten free Nutella crescent rolls, use a gluten free crescent roll dough.
You can use puff pastry or gluten-free puff pastry instead of the crescent roll dough. Spread Nutella on each sheet of puff pastry to produce Nutella twists or triangles. After that, do what the puff pastry packaging says to do to bake it.
How to use the recipe for breakfast, brunch, or dessert

This is one of my favorite Nutella recipes because it is so easy to create.
Also, if you have an extra package of crescent rolls and are searching for ways to use them, this is a perfect recipe for you.
- First, turn the oven on to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Take the crescent dough out of the can and break it along the seams to make triangles. Or, if you’re using homemade pastry dough, cut it into thin triangles.
- Put the dough on a baking pan. I suggest lining the tray with parchment paper so that cleaning up later is easier and less messy.
- Spread around two teaspoons of the chocolate hazelnut spread onto each croissant.
- If you want to add toppings, do so now as well.
- Roll up the dough, either starting at the wide or narrow end, to form crescents.
- Bake the recipe on the center rack of the oven for twelve minutes.
- While they are baking, you can carefully melt a bowl of chocolate chips if desired. Once the chips are melted, whisk in a teaspoon of oil for a smoother sauce.
- Drizzle each finished Nutella pastry with melted chocolate if you desire, then top with optional powdered sugar while the Nutella pastries are still warm.
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 F. (There is also an air fryer baking method included above.)
- Break the dough at the seams to form triangles.
- Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Spread around two teaspoons of Nutella onto each triangle, then add any optional toppings of choice.
- Roll up into crescents.
- Bake 12 minutes or until golden.
- If desired, drizzle with melted chocolate and powdered sugar.
Nutella croissants in an air fryer
If you want to use an air fryer instead of heating up an oven, here’s how to make the dish in an air fryer machine.
- Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit as you prepare the crescent rolls.
- Place the rolls in the air fryer basket in a single layer, leaving space between each roll. Depending on the size of your machine, you may need to do this in two batches.
- Cook for five minutes or until golden.
Eat hot, then store leftovers in an airtight jar on the counter. These Nutella rolls are perfect for taking to parties or celebrations, because they need no refrigeration. Serve them for New Year’s brunch, Christmas breakfast, or as a Valentine’s Day dessert. At around 120 calories apiece, they are lovely any time of year! Put leftovers in a container with a lid. You don’t have to put these Nutella crescent rolls in the fridge.

Ideas for tasty flavors
- Banana Cinnamon: Put a few slices of banana or one little piece of banana lengthwise at the broadest portion of the crescent dough. Roll it up and bake it. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar on the chocolate banana crescent rolls while they are still hot.
- Chocolate Strawberry: Mix in small pieces of strawberries into the dough. After baking or frying, add melted chocolate and optional freeze-dried strawberry powder on top.
- Nutella pastries that taste like a chocolate cream cheese Danish: Spread a thin layer of cream cheese on top of a thin coating of chocolate hazelnut spread.
- Peanut Butter Cup: Use creamy or crunchy peanut butter or almond butter instead of half of the Nutella in the recipe.
- Double Chocolate Chip: Put standard or mini-sized semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips on top of the crescent roll dough and Nutella.
- S’mores: Before wrapping up, press a few small marshmallows on top of the chocolate layer. You can add crushed graham crackers on top if you want. Hey there, Nutella s’mores!
- Raspberry: If you add a thin layer of raspberry jam or fresh mashed raspberries, the chocolate treat will taste like a Godiva raspberry truffle. You may also use this technique to make rolls with chocolate, blueberries, cherries, pomegranates, or blackberries.
- Chocolate Coconut: Before rolling up the dough, add a handful of shredded coconut to make your own little Mounds bar Nutella rings.
- Chocolate Orange: Add the zest of one orange to the top of the chocolate hazelnut filling. Add more orange zest to the final rolls as a garnish.
